One of the things they did so, so well with this is they didn’t just let Emma solve it with some pamphlet and they didn’t just magically fix things through song.
Sure the song helped, and they still threw in an obvious pamphlet joke (Which—no hate to the pamphlets. I love the pamphlets), but what allowed them to work through this conflict was them finally opening up and communicating about what was really going on.
It’s really kind of heart-breaking how hard Blaine finds it to talk about his feelings, but he’s always managed it with Kurt before now.
But not this time. This time he starts bottling up all his fears and his insecurities and starteed drawing away in an attempt to save himself some heartbreak next year, but all that does is make Kurt wonder what he’s doing wrong and withdraw in return.
